(Houston, Texas) – August 12, 2013

Z-Terra, a rapidly growing provider of software and services solutions to the upstream oil and gas industry, announced today the filing of a patent application in the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for “Specularity Gathers for Diffraction Imaging.” Z-Terra’s software helps oil and gas companies visualize 3-D Earth structures and reduces the drilling risk associated with oil and gas exploration from ever more challenging plays.

“We are pleased that our development efforts have culminated in the filing of this patent application, which will substantially extend the coverage of Z-Terra’s intellectual property estate,” said Alexander Mihai Popovici, Z-Terra’s CEO and Chairman.
“Z-Terra continues to develop novel intellectual property in the area of seismic imaging technology that is able to reduce exploration and production risks and increase recovery for conventional reservoirs as well as unconventional resources such as shale gas. Diffraction Imaging is designed to enhance the definition and resolution of oil reservoirs, and in particular the imaging of small scale fractures in shale reservoirs. High-resolution imaging of the small scale fractures in shale reservoirs like the Eagle Ford, Bakken, Utica and Woodbine in the US, and the Horn River, Montney and Utica in Canada improves the prospect characterization and pre-drill assessment of geologic conditions, improves production and recovery efficiency, reduces field development cost and decreases the environmental impact of developing the field by using fewer wells to optimally produce the reservoir. The main idea behind the patent application was conceived by Z-Terra’s Senior Scientific Developer, Ioan Sturzu.”

“The separate imaging of subsurface diffractors is a key ingredient in the development of high-resolution imaging technologies,” Sturzu said. “Specularity gathers allow us to differentiate between a specular reflection and a diffraction. Diffraction imaging, used as a complement to the structural images produced by reflection imaging, is a new super-resolution approach which allows us to image small scale faults, pinch-outs, salt flanks, reflector unconformities and in general any small scattering objects.”

(Las Vegas, NV)) – November 6, 2012

Z-Terra, a rapidly growing provider of software and services solutions to the upstream oil and gas industry, announced today that it has been named one of the winning companies in the 2012 FastTech 50. Founded in 2010, Z-Terra’s software helps oil and gas companies visualize 3-D earth structures and reduces the drilling risk associated with oil and gas exploration from ever more challenging plays.

“Z-Terra was founded with one over-arching goal, said Alexander Mihai Popovici, Z-Terra’s CEO and Chairman. “That was to develop the fastest depth processing system in the industry and reduce turnaround time on large seismic projects from 6-8 months to one month. Our success at achieving that goal is largely responsible for the growth that enabled us to become a FastTech 50 winner. We now have the fastest and most accurate depth imaging solutions available on the market.”

Z-Terra’s processing system is based on a combination of Smart MigrationsTM, (ultra-fast imaging algorithms that allow for very fast imaging iterations – in orders of minutes for imaging thousands of square kilometers), combined with very fast migration velocity analysis tools, including wide-azimuth tomography, in a workflow designed to optimally produce the best quality image in the shortest possible amount of time. One member of the Smart Migrations family is the Fast Beam Migration, a super-efficient algorithm that is on average 100 times faster than the industry standard Kirchhoff depth migration.

(Houston, Texas) – October 1, 2012

In addition to its unique technology services portfolio, Z-Terra also sells exceptional software such as its Kirchhoff migration package, which provides the fastest and strongest imaging foundation available on the market today.

About Z-Terra

HOUSTON, Texas -October 31, 2011

Z-Terra Inc., a provider of depth imaging software and services for oil and gas exploration, has launched ZTK version 2.0, the company’s breakthrough implementation of the three-dimensional Kirchhoff depth and time migration for seismic imaging.

ZTK images seismic data by solving the wave equation with a boundary integral method. The acoustic reflectivity at every point of the Earth’s interior is computed by summing the recorded data on multidimensional surfaces; the shape of the summation surfaces and the summation weights are computed from the Green’s functions of the single scattering wave propagation experiment.

“We want to have the best Kirchhoff Prestack Time and Depth Migration product in the industry in terms of features, speed and accuracy of results. And the price is very reasonable. Our Kirchhoff scales up to tens of thousands of CPUs and is very stable. It can generate migrated stacked volumes, grid targets with offset gathers, offset gathers on a sparse grid or on a completely populated image grid” said Dr. Alexander Mihai Popovici, Chairman and CEO.“The input data requirements for this application are fully preprocessed time traces in any order and a velocity model. The bottom line is enhanced accuracy and greater speed of processing the data.”
