Z-Terra Inc., a provider of depth imaging software and services for oil and gas exploration, has appointed Nicolay Tanushev to be the company’s new Chief Scientist. Tanushev comes to Z-Terra with extensive research experience from the California Institute of Technology’s Department of Physics, Lawrence Livermore National Labs Chemistry and Materials Science Department, the University of California Los Angeles Department of Mathematics and, most recently, the University of Texas at Austin Department of Mathematics, where he was a postdoctoral fellow and lecturer. - Z-Terra Smart Migrations Algorithms Speed Processing September 15, 2011
New technologies will shorten the turnaround time in seismic oil exploration and development. A new generation of depth imaging algorithms, two orders of magnitude faster than the standard Kirchhoff depth migration, has arrived. These clever algorithms, combined with very fast migration velocity analysis tools, can reduce the turnaround time for large 3-D seismic projects from six to eight months down to one to two months. Z-Terra Inc., a provider of depth imaging software and services for oil and gas exploration, has announced Gary E. Clark as its new Sales Manager and Vice President of Sales for South America. Clark, a seasoned sales executive with more than 30 years in management and international sales and marketing experience, will be responsible for developing the sales team for Z-Terra. In addition, he will work to grow the business – particularly in the Latin American market – by interacting with clients and prospects about their current and future needs. - Z-Terra presentation at the Open Software for Reproducible Computational Geophysics June 16, 2011
Today was the first day of the Petroleum Technology Transfer Council’s workshop Open software for reproducible computational geophysics, being held at the Bureau of Economic Geology’s Houston Research Center and organized skillfully by Karl Schleicher of the University of Texas at Austin. It was a full day of presentations (boo!), but all the presentations had live installation demos and even live coding (yay!). It was fantastic. Read full article.
